About Diane Baker

Diane Baker has a degree in graphic design and painting from Mississippi State University.  She now freelances as a graphic designer and illustrator in Lafayette, Louisiana. Through the Acadiana Center for the Arts she also works in public schools as a teaching artist. In the past she has held positions as a department store fashion illustrator, exhibit designer, scientific illustrator and has been a graphics manager and designer for several environmental agencies. Working with environmental scientists has embued her with a love of nature and enabled her to go on alligator counts and walk in Mississippi River Delta mud. Many of these environments have been illustrated in booklets she has created for the Barataria Terrebonne National Estuary Program. These publications can be viewed at: http://birds.btnep.org/materials.aspx

Diane has won multiple awards for her design and illustration work, even an award for an edible art contest! She has a passion for creating stuff, be it book covers, web pages, logos, t-shirts or mosaics to place in the garden. She is adept at using computer programs, such as Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign as well as traditional media like ink, paper and watercolor.
